This Privacy Policy describes how information is collected, used and protected when you use the
Altius Teacher Corner mobile application (Android package
com.ispf.altius.teachercorner) and its related services, delivered as part of the
Altius CSF Tarang programme.
The application is operated on the programme's behalf by Tactile Education Services Private Limited ("ThinkTac"), which provides and maintains the Teacher Corner platform. The programme itself is run by the Innovation and Science Promotion Foundation ("ISPF") together with its programme partners, Altius Foundation and Central Square Foundation (CSF). In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refer to ThinkTac and ISPF acting together in those roles.
1. Who this application is for
Altius Teacher Corner is intended for use by teachers, trainers and programme administrators, who are adults. It is not designed for, marketed to, or intended to be used by children. Accounts are issued by the programme; the application is not open to general public sign-up.
2. Information we collect
| What we collect | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| Mobile phone number | To sign you in using a one-time password (OTP) and to verify your identity. |
| Teacher ID | Issued by the programme, used together with your phone number to authenticate you. |
| Name and profile details | Provided during registration or account setup, so the application can identify you within your programme. |
| School or institution details | To assign you to the correct programme, school, classrooms and activities. |
| Email address, where you provide one | For programme correspondence and account recovery. |
| Programme activity data | Records of activities you conduct, classroom and learner progress, ratings and reflections you enter, and the classes, grades and subjects you teach. This is used to run the programme and to report on its delivery. |
| Photos you choose to upload | Where you submit a photograph as evidence of a completed activity, the image is uploaded and stored with that activity record. The application accesses your camera or photo library only when you choose to attach an image. |
| Device and app information | A push-notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can send you activity reminders, plus app version and network-connectivity status for diagnostics. |
| Usage analytics | Screens viewed and in-app actions, recorded through Google Analytics for Firebase against an app instance identifier and your account identifier, so we can understand how the application is used and fix problems. |
We do not collect your advertising ID, and the application contains no advertising and no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not collect your precise location, contacts, call logs, messages, calendar, health data or financial information.
3. Learner information entered by teachers
As part of programme delivery, teachers record classroom and learner progress in the application. Where that information relates to a child, it is entered by the teacher in their professional capacity and is used only for programme delivery and reporting. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and children do not hold accounts on this application. Teachers are asked to record only the minimum information the programme requires, and to follow their school's own policies on learner data.
4. How we use your information
- To authenticate you and provide secure access to the platform.
- To assign you to the correct programme, school, classrooms and activities.
- To track programme delivery and learner progress, and to report on it to programme administrators at ISPF and its programme partners.
- To send you activity reminders, nudges and programme communications, including by push notification, SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram and email, where you have consented to receive them.
- To improve the application, diagnose technical issues and maintain security.
You consent to programme communications when you sign in, and you may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us using the details in section 9.
5. How your information is stored and secured
Your data is stored on Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage and Cloud Functions), hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Access is restricted to authorised users and programme staff through Firebase Authentication and Firestore Security Rules. Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS, and encrypted at rest by Google Cloud.
6. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only:
- with ISPF and its programme partners, Altius Foundation and Central Square Foundation, for programme administration and reporting;
- with service providers who operate the platform on our behalf, such as Google Firebase and Google Cloud Platform, and the messaging providers used to deliver notifications; and
- where we are required to do so by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users.
7. How long we keep it
We retain your data for as long as your account is active, or as long as needed to provide the service. Programme activity records may be retained for a longer period for programme reporting, where the programme partners require it. You may request deletion of your account at any time: see Data Deletion, or use the details in section 9.
8. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you may withdraw your consent to programme communications. Write to us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period. Deleting your account removes your profile and login; programme activity records already reported to programme administrators may be retained in aggregate or anonymised form.
9. Contact us
For anything relating to this policy or your data. To delete your account, the step-by-step route is on the Data Deletion page.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the application or by programme communication.
